    About Us

Dean Tait and Carrie Sayler are the proprietors of Sayler-Tait Family Cellars. When the
kids came along we really became the Sayler-Tait's. Dean began his interest in wine
through collecting - or as he puts it "I had a buying problem, not a drinking problem."
After collecting wine for a number of years, he wanted to get more involved in the wine
industry so attended the weekend program at the famed UC Davis. After learning both
winemaking as well as the sensory analysis of wine - fancy way of saying wine taster -
Dean jumped into the business becoming the Winemaker for Sayler-Tait Family
    Cellars.

In 2005 - with the help of the great team at Crushpad - we were able to realize a dream
of making our own ultra-premium wine. We do everything as a family so, making wine
is no different. We start with the very best fruit we can source from the best vineyards in
California. Then with as little intervention as possible we produce ultra-premium wines.

    We produced our first
    Syrah in 2005 and
    added Viognier in 2006.
At left is a picture of Dean,
    Alex and Madison putting the
    2006 vintage in  barrel.

    Dean was involved most
at crush but we also got
our hands dirty as a family.
    Here is a picture of
    Alexander, Dean and
    Madison taken in
    November of 2006 after
    we put the Alder Springs
    Syrah in barrel.

We produce wines from Syrah and Viognier, grapes whose roots can be traced back to
the Northern Rhône in France. Rhône wines may not be as civilized as Bordeaux wines
or as elegant as those from Burgundy but they are honest earthy wines. Kinda like us!
